New Ways to Access Microsoft Office Files

There are two new ways for CSUN faculty and staff to access the Microsoft Office Suite听(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote):

  1. from a web browser and
  2. from an iPhone or iPad.听

From a web browser

From a web browser, log in to听,听or to the听听login page.

myCSUNbox听

Create, edit, and save Microsoft Office files directly to your听听account by following these steps:听

  1. Log in to听听account.
  2. From your list of files, select the听more options听arrow.
  3. Select听Open with.
  4. Select听Word Online, Excel Online, or PowerPoint Online.听See image below.

You can also launch a Microsoft Office application when you are previewing a file:听

  1. When previewing a file, select听Open with Word,听Open with Excel,听or听Open with听PowerPoint.听
  2. Select听Microsoft听Word Online, Microsoft听Excel Online,听or听Microsoft听PowerPoint Online.听See image below.听

Office Online Suite

Microsoft Office Online allows you to create and edit files directly to Microsoft's storage solution,听; however, please note that,听听is CSUN's storage solution.听

To access the Office Online suite, visit the听听login page and sign in with your CSUN user ID and password. Once you are signed in, select the听Apps听icon听听at the top left-hand corner.

From an iPhone or iPad

Create, edit and save Office files directly to听your听听account from an iPhone or iPad. You do not have to pay for any additional apps to be able to edit Office files from your iPhone or iPad. Instead, install the Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for free.听

To get started, be sure to install the听听app, and log in with your CSUN user ID and password, before you proceed with installing the Office Apps.听

Installing Office Apps

  1. Go to the App store and search for听Microsoft Word,听Microsoft Excel听or听Microsoft PowerPoint.听
  2. Install the apps you plan to use.
  3. Open Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
  4. Enter your听CSUN email address.听
  5. Select听work account.听
  6. Enter your CSUN log in information, then press听Enter.听Please note that you will听only need to log in to one of the Office Apps because your login information will be stored for any others.听

Connecting Office Apps to myCSUNbox

  1. In any of the Office apps, select听Open听from the options at the bottom. 听
  2. Select the听more听option.听
  3. Select听Locations.听
  4. Select the听more听option again.听
  5. Toggle the Box option to听On听and select听done.听
  6. If you do not see the Box passcode prompt, select听Locations听again, and select听Box.听
  7. The file list displays.
  8. Open, edit and save existing files as needed.听
