New Ways to Access Microsoft Office Files
There are two new ways for CSUN faculty and staff to access the Microsoft Office SuiteÌý(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote):
- from a web browser and
- from an iPhone or iPad.Ìý
From a web browser
From a web browser, log in toÌý,Ìýor to theÌýÌýlogin page.

Create, edit, and save Microsoft Office files directly to yourÌýÌýaccount by following these steps:Ìý
- Log in toÌýÌýaccount.
- From your list of files, select theÌýmore optionsÌýarrow.
- SelectÌýOpen with.
- SelectÌýWord Online, Excel Online, or PowerPoint Online.ÌýSee image below.
You can also launch a Microsoft Office application when you are previewing a file:Ìý
- When previewing a file, selectÌýOpen with Word,ÌýOpen with Excel,ÌýorÌýOpen withÌýPowerPoint.Ìý

Office Online Suite
Microsoft Office Online allows you to create and edit files directly to Microsoft's storage solution,Ìý; however, please note that,ÌýÌýis CSUN's storage solution.Ìý
To access the Office Online suite, visit theÌýÌýlogin page and sign in with your CSUN user ID and password. Once you are signed in, select theÌýAppsÌýiconÌýÌýat the top left-hand corner.
From an iPhone or iPad
Create, edit and save Office files directly toÌýyourÌýÌýaccount from an iPhone or iPad. You do not have to pay for any additional apps to be able to edit Office files from your iPhone or iPad. Instead, install the Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for free.Ìý
To get started, be sure to install theÌýÌýapp, and log in with your CSUN user ID and password, before you proceed with installing the Office Apps.Ìý
Installing Office Apps
- Go to the App store and search forÌýMicrosoft Word,ÌýMicrosoft ExcelÌýorÌýMicrosoft PowerPoint.Ìý
- Install the apps you plan to use.
- Open Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
- Enter yourÌýCSUN email address.Ìý
- SelectÌýwork account.Ìý
- Enter your CSUN log in information, then pressÌýEnter.ÌýPlease note that you willÌýonly need to log in to one of the Office Apps because your login information will be stored for any others.Ìý
Connecting Office Apps to myCSUNbox
- In any of the Office apps, selectÌýOpenÌýfrom the options at the bottom. Ìý
- Select theÌýmoreÌýoption.Ìý
- SelectÌýLocations.Ìý
- Select theÌýmoreÌýoption again.Ìý
- Toggle the Box option toÌýOnÌýand selectÌýdone.Ìý
- If you do not see the Box passcode prompt, selectÌýLocationsÌýagain, and selectÌýBox.Ìý
- The file list displays.
- Open, edit and save existing files as needed.Ìý
