Training Programs from the CSU Chancellor's Office Online Course Services:
Online Course Services (OCS) at the Chancellor's Office offers free courses to help faculty enhance their online teaching including how to use the Quality Learning & Teaching framework, which we have adopted here 91传媒.听These courses are offered once every semester for tenure-track faculty and lecturer faculty in the 23 CSU campuses.听
These training courses are听3-weeks in length,听online,听asynchronous, and require听15-20 hours听with a structured course schedule and due dates that must be followed.
Below are the dates for current courses th91传媒 faculty are eligible to take.听These courses are facilitated by external staff within the CSU system.听

Oct 6 thru Oct 26 听| Nov 3 thru Nov 23:听听Introduction to Teaching Online Using QLT听
Introduction to teaching online with the听CSU听QLT听rubric representing the 9 sections of听QLT. Content covered includes orienting students to the online course, setting up the structure and navigation of a course, designing online modules for content delivery and engagement, developing methods for facilitating discussions, developing assessment tools, using technology tools, and experiencing an online course from a student perspective.
Oct 6 thru Oct 26:听Advanced QLT Course in Teaching Online
Advanced听QLT听course in creating a course and module structure that is in alignment with course objectives, incorporates social presence, equity-minded strategies, engagement strategies in synchronous and asynchronous activities, active learning with video, and alternative assessments. Participants will complete a听QLT听Core-24 self-review on their own course for reflection to guide them as they progress through the course in identifying areas to improve on. The final project will include creating a video tour to highlight three course changes made in the course while completing the training.听Note:听having a partially or fully developed online or hybrid course is required prior to registration.
Oct 6 thru Oct 26 听| Nov 3 thru Nov 23: AI Tools for Teaching and Learning听(For Faculty/Lecturers)
Introduction to Artificial Intelligence tools where guided experimentation empowers participants to understand some of the basics of听AI听functionality, including its workings and methods for detecting its usage. Learn basic听AI听terminology, engage in hands-on exploration of听AI听Tools, learn strategies for detecting听AI-generated content, and techniques to address potential misuse of听AI听tools by students. Participants will apply the knowledge gained to develop a personalized听AI听use policy for their course, and find resources to maintain currency in this dynamic field.
Oct 6 thru Oct 26 听| Nov 3 thru Nov 23: AI听Tools for Higher-Ed Professionals/Staff
Learn some of the basics about Artificial Intelligence tools, what they are and when, why, and how to use them. Participants will apply the knowledge gained to evaluate gAI tools for relevance to professional tasks, develop effective prompts for generating outputs using gAI tools, and discuss critical issues related to ethical and responsible use of听AI听in the workplace.
Not Currently Offered:听Reviewing Courses Using the QLT Rubric
Provides an in-depth experience with the听CSU听QLT听rubric and ways to use objective-based examples to support reviewing and informing online and hybrid courses. Participants will engage in hands-on experiences using the听QLT听objectives to rate elements of a sample course, learn how to write helpful recommendations, and discuss examples for setting up a peer-review process on their campus. This session is for those looking to use the rubric to complete a听QLT听self-review and/or serve as a peer-review on campus and systemwide听QLT听formal course certifications.
