Student Learning Outcomes

The Department of Kinesiology is a learning-centered communityÌýthat educates and inspires its students to understand and appreciateÌýhuman movement for personal expression and wellness throughout theÌýlifespan. In doing so, students and faculty work together to improveÌýquality of life for themselves and their community. The DepartmentÌývalues and respects the spectrum of human diversity. An integratedÌýapproach to the teaching, learning and application of human movementÌýprovides opportunities and experiences to achieve the followingÌýlearning outcomes:

  1. Apply an integrated kinesiological approach to encourage theÌýadoption of healthy and physically active lifestyles, across diverseÌýpopulations;
  2. Apply evidence-based practices to enhance the study of humanÌýmovement;
  3. Demonstrate competent problem-solving strategies through intentionalÌýpractices; and
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of kinesthetic forms, processes and structuresÌýas they apply to the personal expression and culture of humanÌýmovement.
